Large-scale residential development brought forward in parcels for delivery by a number of well-known developers. The site, owned by Peel Holdings, historically comprised a number of different commercial uses. Our involvement was to advise on arboricultural matters, including some significant constraints imposed by trees, many of them protected by Tree Preservation Orders. As well as carrying out surveys to BS5837 (both the 1991 & 2012 versions given our long-term involvement in the project), we advised on the management of a protected woodland such as to allow access by the general public as safely as possible. Other matters that cropped up throughout the design & application processes included advising on tree issues to assist with foundation design and the careful management of development proposals against woodland pockets and watercourses. The site has delivered several hundred houses over the years and continues to be developed in accordance with a robust development brief.
